Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day technical operations of assigned PCTC vessels.
- Plan and oversee dry dockings, repairs, maintenance, and major technical projects.
- Monitor vessel performance, maintenance schedules, and operating costs.
- Prepare and manage vessel budgets, repair estimates, and expenditure.
- Ensure compliance with Class, Flag State, ISM Code, SOLAS, MARPOL, and company requirements.
- Conduct vessel inspections and provide technical support to Masters and Chief Engineers.
- Liaise with shipyards, classification societies, suppliers, and service providers.
- Investigate technical defects and machinery failures, implementing corrective actions.
- Ensure technical documentation and reports are maintained accurately.
Requirements
- Chief Engineer (Class I) Certificate of Competency or Degree in Marine Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Technical Superintendent managing PCTC, Ro-Ro, or similar vessel types.
- Previous sailing experience as a Chief Engineer is advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of dry docking, planned maintenance systems (PMS), vessel budgeting, and technical procurement.
- Good understanding of IMO regulations, ISM Code, SOLAS, MARPOL, Class and Flag State requirements.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and ship management software.
