Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, diagnose, and resolve faults involving marine engines, auxiliary engines, steering systems, and other onboard mechanical equipment.
  • Carry out repair and servicing of inboard and outboard engines, including fuel, cooling, and exhaust systems.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance to ensure all vessel machinery and systems remain in safe and efficient operating condition.
  • Maintain cleanliness and proper housekeeping of the vessel and engine room while onboard.
  • Prepare comprehensive service reports detailing work completed and communicate repair findings and recommendations to customers.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Comply with company safety procedures and industry regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Ensure all repair and maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with applicable environmental and marine compliance standards.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, including labour hours, replacement parts, and completed services.
  • Update and maintain service records using the company’s maintenance or service management system.

Team Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with service engineers and technical team members to deliver quality service and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Support the onboarding, coaching, and development of junior technicians when required.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the company.

Requirements:

  • Diploma or equivalent qualification in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Relevant technical certifications will be an advantage.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience in marine servicing, maintenance, or repair.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify and resolve technical issues effectively.
  • Familiarity with marine diagnostic equipment and servicing tools.
  • Sound knowledge of marine engines, auxiliary engines, and cargo pump systems.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and service manuals.
  • Physically fit and able to handle demanding tasks, including lifting equipment and working onboard vessels in varying weather conditions.
