Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Steel Supervisor to oversee daily steel fabrication, assembly, and erection activities within a shipyard environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising production teams, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications, quality standards, and production schedules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily steel fabrication, assembly, and erection activities, ensuring work is carried out according to approved drawings, specifications, and production schedules.
  • Allocate work assignments to foremen, fitters, welders, and production personnel, and monitor progress to achieve daily production targets.
  • Conduct daily toolbox meetings and promote compliance with workplace health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements.
  • Coordinate with Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) personnel to facilitate inspections, fit-up verification, and welding inspections.
  • Monitor dimensional accuracy, workmanship, and quality throughout the fabrication and assembly process.
  • Identify production issues and work with relevant departments to implement timely corrective actions.
  • Ensure proper housekeeping, equipment maintenance, and safe working practices within assigned work areas.
  • Monitor manpower deployment, attendance, and overtime requirements to support efficient production planning.
  • Prepare daily progress reports and communicate production updates to management.
    Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, quality, and operational efficiency.

 

Requirements

  • Technical Certificate, NITEC, Diploma, or an equivalent qualification in Engineering, Fabrication, Welding, or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience supervising steel fabrication, structural fabrication, or shipbuilding activities within a shipyard or heavy engineering environment.
  • Experience supervising welders, fitters, and fabrication teams.
  • Knowledge of shipbuilding fabrication processes, welding practices, and engineering drawings.
  • Welding inspection certifications (e.g. CSWIP) or equivalent are advantageous.
  • Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications, for reporting and communication.
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment while maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Willingness and ability to work full-time in Batam, Indonesia.
