Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Facility Manager to oversee the maintenance, operation, and continuous improvement of shipyard facilities and infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the reliability of plant equipment, supporting yard operations, managing maintenance programmes, and ensuring facilities are maintained in a safe, efficient, and operationally ready condition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and oversee planned preventive maintenance programmes for shipyard facilities, equipment, and infrastructure.
  • Lead and supervise the maintenance team, ensuring maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with operational requirements.
  • Monitor and verify daily maintenance work, ensuring quality standards and maintenance schedules are met.
  • Manage the maintenance and servicing of shipyard equipment, including cranes, prime movers, machinery, workshop equipment, and other operational assets.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation in accordance with quality management systems and company procedures.
  • Oversee the maintenance of workshops, offices, dry docks, slipways, piers, and other shipyard facilities to ensure operational readiness and workplace safety.
  • Work closely with Production, Engineering, and Operations teams to provide facility support, including utilities, dock infrastructure, lighting, and workshop equipment.
  • Plan and manage facility improvement, infrastructure, and upgrade projects, ensuring completion within approved budgets and project schedules.
  • Prepare and manage the annual maintenance budget for facilities, equipment, and tools.
  • Evaluate and coordinate subcontractors supporting maintenance, facility upgrades, and infrastructure projects.
  • Ensure hazardous waste and environmental management activities are carried out in accordance with applicable local regulations and company procedures.
  • Monitor company assets and provide recommendations for equipment replacement, disposal, or new asset acquisitions.
  • Coordinate the utilisation and maintenance of rented equipment supporting shipyard operations.
    Prepare monthly maintenance, facility performance, and infrastructure reports for management.
  • Coordinate the reporting, investigation, and rectification of facility defects to support safe and efficient yard operations.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives relating to facility management, environmental sustainability, and operational efficiency.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Marine Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related engineering discipline.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in shipyard facility management, plant maintenance, or industrial facility operations.
  • Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance planning, facility management, and maintenance best practices.
  • Experience managing maintenance teams, contractors, and facility improvement projects.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems, maintenance planning software, and Microsoft Office applications. Experience with Microsoft Project is advantageous.
  • Good understanding of workplace safety and environmental management practices within an industrial or shipyard environment.
  • Strong leadership, planning, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in English is required. Ability to communicate in Bahasa Indonesia is an advantage due to coordination with local contractors and operational personnel.
  • Willingness and ability to work full-time in Batam, Indonesia.
