Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to oversee the execution of vessel construction projects from commencement through completion. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing on-site construction activities, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily construction activities to ensure project milestones are achieved on time and within quality standards.
  • Manage and coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and site personnel to ensure work is carried out in accordance with project specifications, contractual requirements, applicable regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Monitor construction progress and implement recovery plans where required to minimise delays and optimise productivity.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Engineering, Production, and Quality teams to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Liaise with clients, owner’s representatives, and relevant stakeholders to address technical queries and resolve construction-related issues.
  • Monitor subcontractor and supplier performance, ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and project requirements, and implement appropriate corrective actions where necessary.
  • Conduct site inspections and ensure construction activities comply with workplace safety requirements and quality standards.
  • Develop production schedules and work sequencing plans to maximise efficiency and minimise rework.
  • Identify project risks and proactively implement mitigation measures to support successful project delivery.
  • Prepare construction progress reports, lessons learned, and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Support commissioning, inspections, and project handover activities as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience managing vessel construction, shipbuilding, or marine engineering projects.
  • Strong understanding of newbuilding projects, construction planning, and site execution within a shipyard environment.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams, subcontractors, and external vendors.
    Good knowledge of shipyard construction practices, quality management, and workplace safety requirements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
    Strong leadership, organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in English is required. Ability to communicate in Bahasa Indonesia is an advantage due to coordination with local site personnel and stakeholders.
  • Willingness and ability to work full-time in Batam, Indonesia.
