Job Description

Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Reporting

  • Manage the full set of accounts, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Fixed Assets.
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
  • Perform month-end and year-end closing activities accurately and within stipulated timelines.
  • Prepare journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Monitor cash flow and assist with treasury-related activities.

Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Review and process supplier invoices, payments, and staff claims.
  • Monitor customer collections and follow up on outstanding receivables.
  • Ensure timely and accurate recording of financial transactions.

Budgeting & Financial Analysis

  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Conduct variance analysis and provide insights on financial performance.
  • Support management with financial data and reports for decision-making.

Compliance & Audit

  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and statutory regulations.
  • Prepare GST returns and support tax-related matters.
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, bankers, and regulatory authorities.
  • Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and supporting documentation.

Process Improvement & Internal Controls

  • Review and enhance accounting processes and internal controls.
  • Support finance system improvements and automation initiatives.
  • Participate in finance-related projects and ad hoc assignments as required.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in the maritime, shipping, logistics, or related industries.
  • Experience handling full sets of accounts and month-end closing activities.
  • Good knowledge of Singapore Financial Reporting Standards (SFRS) and GST regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software/ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CA Singapore) will be an advantage.
  • Experience working in a multinational or regional business environment.
  • Familiarity with maritime or vessel-related accounting processes is preferred.
