Job Description
Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Manage the full set of accounts, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Fixed Assets.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
- Perform month-end and year-end closing activities accurately and within stipulated timelines.
- Prepare journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Monitor cash flow and assist with treasury-related activities.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Review and process supplier invoices, payments, and staff claims.
- Monitor customer collections and follow up on outstanding receivables.
- Ensure timely and accurate recording of financial transactions.
Budgeting & Financial Analysis
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
- Conduct variance analysis and provide insights on financial performance.
- Support management with financial data and reports for decision-making.
Compliance & Audit
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and statutory regulations.
- Prepare GST returns and support tax-related matters.
- Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, bankers, and regulatory authorities.
- Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and supporting documentation.
Process Improvement & Internal Controls
- Review and enhance accounting processes and internal controls.
- Support finance system improvements and automation initiatives.
- Participate in finance-related projects and ad hoc assignments as required.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in the maritime, shipping, logistics, or related industries.
- Experience handling full sets of accounts and month-end closing activities.
- Good knowledge of Singapore Financial Reporting Standards (SFRS) and GST regulations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software/ERP systems.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Able to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CA Singapore) will be an advantage.
- Experience working in a multinational or regional business environment.
- Familiarity with maritime or vessel-related accounting processes is preferred.
