Job Description

  • Oversee the technical management and operational readiness of assigned vessels within a managed fleet
  • Ensure vessels operate safely, efficiently, and in a cost-effective manner in line with internal standards
  • Monitor vessel performance, machinery condition, and technical reliability through regular analysis and reporting
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise maintenance schedules, repairs, and dry docking activities in collaboration with shipyards and vendors
  • Ensure full compliance with international maritime regulations, classification societies, and flag state requirements
  • Apply and uphold established safety and environmental management systems, including ISM-related procedures
  • Manage and control technical budgets, including forecasting, cost tracking, and procurement activities
  • Liaise with vessel crew, providing technical guidance and resolving operational challenges
  • Coordinate with internal departments and external stakeholders to support vessel operations
  • Review and submit technical documentation, reports, and performance updates to clients or asset owners
  • Support crew competence from a technical standpoint and ensure vessels are adequately prepared for inspections and audits
  • Promote continuous improvement in maintenance practices, operational efficiency, and safety standards

✅ Requirements

  • Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related maritime discipline
  • OR valid Chief Engineer license supported by relevant sea-going experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a technical or seagoing role within the maritime industry
  • OR at least 2 years of sailing experience in the capacity of Chief Engineer
  • OR prior shore-based experience in a similar technical management role for a minimum of 2 years
  • Strong working knowledge of marine engineering systems, vessel operations, and maintenance practices
  • Proven experience in planning and executing dry dockings and major repairs
  • Solid understanding of international maritime regulations, including IMO conventions, class requirements, and flag state compliance
  • Familiarity with safety and quality management systems within a ship management environment
  • Exposure to budget management, cost control, and technical procurement processes
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and coordination skills
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to engage diverse, multicultural stakeholders
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, globally coordinated operational environment
  • Proficient in English, both written and spoken
  • Willingness to travel internationally for vessel attendance, inspections, and shipyard projects
