Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the overall technical operations of assigned bulk carrier vessels
  • Plan and oversee maintenance, repairs, and dry-docking activities
  • Monitor vessel performance, condition, and operational efficiency
  • Prepare and control technical budgets, including cost tracking and optimisation
  • Ensure compliance with class, flag state, and international regulations (ISM, MARPOL, SOLAS)
  • Conduct vessel inspections and provide technical guidance to onboard teams
  • Support and investigate technical incidents, implementing corrective actions
  • Liaise with shipyards, contractors, suppliers, and classification societies
  • Oversee procurement of spare parts, services, and technical requirements
  • Ensure proper documentation and reporting within company systems
  • Work closely with Marine, Crewing, and HSSEQ teams to ensure smooth vessel operations

    Requirements

  • Chief Engineer (Class 1) or Degree in Marine Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 2–5 years of shore-based experience as a Technical Superintendent (bulk carriers preferred)
  • Prior sailing experience as Chief Engineer on bulk carriers
  • Strong knowledge of vessel machinery, maintenance planning, and dry-docking
  • Familiarity with class requirements and international maritime regulations
  • Experience managing budgets and cost control
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Good communication and stakeholder management abilities
