Job Description

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and service marine main engines, auxiliary engines, steering systems, and other vessel machinery.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance on inboard and outboard engines, including fuel, cooling, and exhaust systems.
  • Conduct routine and preventive maintenance to ensure vessel machinery and systems remain in safe and satisfactory working condition.
  • Perform onboard service work while maintaining proper housekeeping and cleanliness of the vessel and engine room.
  • Prepare accurate service reports detailing work completed, parts used, labour hours, and repair findings.
  • Communicate repair requirements, findings, and recommendations clearly to customers.
  • Follow all applicable safety procedures, maritime regulations, and environmental requirements.
  • Record and track service, repair, and maintenance activities using relevant service management systems.
  • Work closely with other technicians and service team members to ensure efficient completion of service jobs.
  • Support and mentor junior technicians when required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Diploma or equivalent qualification in Marine Engineering, Marine Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Technical certification or associate degree in marine mechanics or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in marine service, maintenance, and repair.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in using diagnostic tools and marine service equipment.
  • Good knowledge of marine engines, auxiliary engines, and cargo pumps.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, engineering drawings, and schematics.
  • Physically fit and able to lift heavy equipment and work in demanding marine environments and varying weather conditions.
