Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer / Manager to lead and coordinate the commissioning, testing, and handover of newbuild vessels. The successful candidate will ensure all onboard systems are tested, commissioned, and delivered in accordance with project specifications, quality standards, and delivery schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and execute commissioning activities for newbuild vessel projects from system completion through final handover.
- Develop commissioning schedules, test plans, procedures, and commissioning documentation.
- Coordinate commissioning activities with Engineering, Production, QA/QC, Project Management, subcontractors, and equipment vendors.
- Lead functional testing and commissioning of mechanical, electrical, automation, HVAC, piping, fire protection, navigation, communication, and propulsion systems.
- Monitor commissioning progress and resolve technical issues to ensure project milestones are achieved.
- Coordinate Harbour Acceptance Tests (HAT), Sea Acceptance Tests (SAT), and vessel trials.
- Ensure all commissioning activities comply with project specifications, safety requirements, and quality standards.
- Review and compile commissioning records, test reports, punch lists, and handover documentation.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and equipment manufacturers during commissioning and final acceptance.
- Identify opportunities to improve commissioning processes and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Marine Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 5-8 years of relevant commissioning experience in shipbuilding, marine, offshore, or EPC projects, including experience leading commissioning teams or projects.
- Strong knowledge of marine vessel systems, including electrical, mechanical, automation, propulsion, and auxiliary systems.
- Experience coordinating Harbour Acceptance Tests (HAT), Sea Acceptance Tests (SAT), commissioning, and vessel handover.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, single-line diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Strong troubleshooting, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience coordinating clients, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; experience with commissioning or project management software is an advantage.
