  • Manage a diverse and demanding caseload involving Defence and Protection & Indemnity (P&I) matters across the Asia-Pacific region.
  • Provide timely, practical legal advice on claims, disputes, and other maritime-related matters.
  • Manage and coordinate external counsel involved in complex litigation and claims.
  • Deliver presentations, workshops, and legal updates to members and clients.
  • Collaborate closely with legal and claims teams across Singapore and international offices.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with members, clients, brokers, and other key stakeholders.
  • Provide legal support and assistance to colleagues handling other claims processes.
  • Work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative and close-knit team.
  • Support business development and promote the organisation’s legal and claims capabilities across Singapore and Southeast Asia.
  • Undertake occasional regional travel for client meetings, presentations, workshops, and business development activities.

Requirements

  • Qualified lawyer with experience in an English/Common Law jurisdiction, such as Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, or a comparable jurisdiction.
  • Minimum 4–5 years’ post-qualification experience (PQE).
  • Relevant experience gained within a recognised maritime law firm, International Group P&I Club, trading house, or similar organisation.
  • Strong experience handling Defence and/or P&I matters.
  • Solid technical legal knowledge with strong commercial awareness.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a high degree of autonomy.
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience in commodities and trade matters and/or P&I and casualty work is an advantage.
  • Exposure to casualty response and incident management is preferred.
  • Mandarin Chinese or another Asian language capability is an advantage.
