Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Country Manager to lead Marine & Offshore operations across Malaysia and Brunei. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving business growth, operational excellence, financial performance, and customer satisfaction while fostering a strong culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Leadership
    Provide strategic and operational leadership to achieve business objectives, financial targets, and sustainable growth across the region.
  • Develop and implement business strategies to expand market presence and strengthen customer relationships within the marine and offshore sectors.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, service offerings, and strategic partnerships to support long-term business growth.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with shipowners, ship managers, shipyards, offshore operators, government agencies, and other key stakeholders.
  • Operational Management
  • Oversee the delivery of marine and offshore services, ensuring operational efficiency, quality, and compliance with company policies and industry standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery, operational performance, and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with business unit leaders to promote accountability, innovation, and cross-functional teamwork.
  • Ensure effective implementation of corporate strategies, governance frameworks, and operational procedures across the region.
  • Financial & Commercial Management
  • Manage regional financial performance, including revenue, profitability, cash flow, budgeting, and cost control.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement strategies to achieve commercial and operational objectives.
  • Support contract negotiations, commercial decision-making, and business development initiatives.
    People Leadership
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team by fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous professional development.
  • Strengthen leadership capability and succession planning across the organisation.
  • Promote employee engagement, performance management, and organisational effectiveness.
  • Health, Safety & Compliance
  • Champion a strong culture of health, safety, environmental responsibility, and regulatory compliance across all operations.
  • Promote proactive risk management and continuous improvement in workplace safety and operational practices.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable statutory requirements, industry standards, quality management systems, and internal governance policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Management, or a related discipline. A postgraduate qualification or MBA will be an advantage.
  • At least 15 years of relevant experience within the marine, offshore, or maritime industry, including significant exposure to technical, commercial, or operational leadership.
  • Proven experience in a senior leadership or people management role with responsibility for business performance and organisational development.
  • Strong commercial acumen with demonstrated experience managing budgets, profit and loss (P&L), business growth, and financial performance.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven ability to develop business strategies, identify growth opportunities, and build long-term client relationships.
  • Experience working within an international organisation or multinational business environment is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with marine classification, shipbuilding, offshore operations, marine assurance, or related technical services will be an advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead organisational change, drive operational excellence, and deliver sustainable business results.
  • Willingness to travel within the region as required.
