Job Description
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to drive business development and commercial growth within the marine services sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing client relationships, securing new service agreements, managing commercial proposals, and supporting the delivery of Life-Saving Appliances (LSA), Fire-Fighting Equipment (FFE), and technical marine services.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Client Management
Identify and develop new business opportunities with shipowners, ship managers, fleet operators, offshore operators, and shipyards.
Build and maintain long-term relationships with existing and prospective clients to drive repeat business and account growth.
Expand the company’s presence by onboarding new customers and supporting vendor registration processes.
Achieve sales, revenue, and customer retention targets in line with business objectives.
Commercial & Contract Management
Serve as the primary commercial contact for customer enquiries and service opportunities.
Prepare, review, and negotiate quotations, tenders, service agreements, and commercial contracts.
Work closely with technical and service teams to ensure commercial proposals align with customer requirements and operational capabilities.
Support the renewal and management of long-term service agreements and maintenance contracts.
Sales Strategy & Market Development
Develop and execute sales strategies to grow the LSA, FFE, and technical service portfolio.
Monitor market trends, customer requirements, and competitor activities to identify new opportunities.
Provide commercial insights and recommendations to support business growth and market positioning.
Project & Stakeholder Coordination
Coordinate with Technical Managers, Service Engineers, and Operations teams on project scope, quotations, and service delivery.
Liaise with shipyards, repair facilities, and vessel management teams on dry-docking and maintenance opportunities.
Work closely with Finance on invoicing, payment follow-up, and commercial risk management.
Ensure commercial activities comply with company procedures, quality standards, and applicable maritime regulations.
Reporting & Industry Representation
Maintain an accurate sales pipeline, forecasts, and CRM records.
Prepare regular sales and commercial performance reports for management review.
Represent the company at client meetings, exhibitions, conferences, and industry networking events.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Maritime Studies, or a related discipline.
Minimum 8–10 years of relevant experience in marine services, ship management, offshore services, LSA/FFE, or technical sales.
Proven experience in business development, key account management, and commercial negotiations within the maritime industry.
Strong understanding of Life-Saving Appliances (LSA), Fire-Fighting Equipment (FFE), SOLAS requirements, and marine service operations is preferred.
Experience preparing tenders, commercial proposals, and service contracts.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and CRM systems.
Self-driven with strong commercial acumen and the ability to manage multiple client accounts and projects in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Experience
Experience working with shipowners, ship managers, shipyards, offshore operators, or marine service providers.
Familiarity with dry-docking projects, fleet maintenance contracts, and technical marine service delivery.
Existing network within the maritime industry is an advantage.
