Job Description

 

  • Develop and implement sales strategies aligned with business goals and growth targets.
  • Identify key market segments, customer needs, and new service opportunities to optimize sales focus and resource allocation.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and customer developments to strengthen market positioning.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with key clients, shipowners, vessel operators, OEM partners, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Act as the primary commercial contact for customers, ensuring responsive service and high customer satisfaction.
  • Lead contract negotiations and drive successful deal closures in line with company policies and commercial objectives.
  • Identify, develop, and close new business opportunities to expand the customer base and increase market penetration.
  • Conduct market research and customer profiling to identify opportunities for service upgrades, retrofits, spare parts, and lifecycle solutions.
  • Develop customer-specific solutions in collaboration with product managers, technical support, engineering, and field service teams.
  • Prepare and deliver effective sales presentations, proposals, and technical-commercial solutions.
  • Support the coaching, mentoring, and development of junior sales team members.
  • Share market intelligence, best practices, and lessons learned to improve overall sales effectiveness.
  • Track and manage sales pipelines, activities, and opportunities through CRM systems.
  • Prepare accurate sales forecasts, business reports, and performance updates for management review.
  • Analyze sales performance, identify gaps, and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, procurement, logistics, and finance teams to ensure smooth order execution and post-sales support.
  • Ensure timely handover of projects to execution and service delivery teams with clear documentation and expectations.
  • Support contract risk assessments, internal approval processes, and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable commercial laws, ethical standards, and trade regulations.
  • Represent the company at relevant industry trade events, exhibitions, and networking forums.
  • Promote a collaborative, customer-focused, safety-conscious, and performance-oriented sales culture.
  • Support the adoption of CRM platforms, digital sales tools, customer portals, and other digital solutions.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive sales experience, preferably within the marine, maritime, power generation, energy, or industrial sectors.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and growing existing customer accounts.
  • Strong business development and key account management experience.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to understand customer requirements and develop tailored solutions.
  • Experience managing sales pipelines, forecasts, and customer activities using CRM systems such as Salesforce or similar platforms.
  • Understanding of aftermarket sales, spare parts, service solutions, equipment upgrades, retrofits, or lifecycle solutions is an advantage.
  • Experience working with shipowners, vessel operators, OEMs, technical teams, or industrial customers is preferred.
  • Previous experience coaching or mentoring junior sales personnel is an advantage.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Professional training in sales management, negotiation, or business development is an advantage.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Willingness to travel within Singapore and the APAC region as required.
