Job Description
The LNG Vessel Manager oversees the complete technical and operational management of designated LNG ships to guarantee safe operations, regulatory adherence, cost-effectiveness, and optimal fleet performance. The position serves as the primary liaison among the ship, land-based management, classification organizations, flag officials, and external service providers.
Main Duties
- Technical Oversight
- Supervise the technical functionality and upkeep of designated LNG ships.
- Makecertainthat vessels function safely and effectivelywhileadheringto company guidelines and international laws.
- Overseetheexecution and finalizationofthe Planned Maintenance System (PMS).
- Oversee dry docking, repairs, evaluations, and significant maintenance tasks.
- Examine technical documentation,fault reports, and equipmentefficiency.
LNG-Focused Supervision
- Verifyadherenceto LNG cargo managementprotocols and gas safety regulations.
- Supervise cargo containment systems, reliquefaction systems, boil-off gas handling, and gas fuel systems.
- Collaborate with vesselpersonnelon LNG operational matters and readinessforemergencies.
- Guaranteecompliancewith SIGTTO, IMO, ISM Code, and additional LNG sector
Compliance with Regulations and Safety Standards
Guarantee adherence to:
- SOLAS
- MARPOL
- ISM Code
- ISPS Code
- Flag State and Classification requirements
- Get vessels ready for audits, inspections, and vetting.
- Assistintheexecution of HSEQ policies and risk evaluations.
Budget and Expense Management
- Create and oversee budgets for vessel operations.
- Manage repair and maintenance costs.
- Examinequotes and authorizepurchasingneeds.
- Oversee inventory of spare parts and procurementactions.
Team and Operational Management
- Keepregularcontact with Masters and Chief Engineers.
- Collaborate with the crewing department concerningpersonnel and crew effectiveness.
- Offer technical direction and operational assistance to onboardstaff.
- Engage in investigations ofincidents and implement corrective measures.
Crisis Intervention
- Offerland-based emergency assistance when necessary.
- Engage in emergency exercises and crisis responseoperations.
- Support in accident inquiries and fundamental cause examination
Requirements:
- Technical/maritime credentials with seagoing background as Chief Engineer on LNG motor vessels, ideally with DFDE / XDF engines.
- Certifications and Education:
- COC Class 1 (standard qualification for Chief Engineer)
- Profile of Candidate:
- Ideally Vessel Manager (1 year of experience)
- No prior shore experience is also acceptable / Can come straight from sea (LNG DFDE Chief Engineer)
