Transshipment and Logistics Executive

Job Description

  • Manage transshipment planning and coordinate with relevant teams to ensure nominated cargo is successfully connected to onward vessels.
  • Monitor feeder vessel arrivals against connecting vessels and ensure cargo connections comply with operational and trade requirements.
  • Coordinate cargo releases and execute transshipment plans, including taking corrective action for tight connections, delays, or rollovers.
  • Coordinate transshipment declarations, nominations, and operational arrangements with feeder operators.
  • Reconcile cargo against transshipment plans to ensure accurate and complete movement records.
  • Verify feeder and related vendor invoices and escalate operational issues when required.
  • Respond to daily enquiries from internal teams, agents, feeder operators, and other service providers.
  • Coordinate feeder space requirements and monitor prevailing feeder rates and utilization.
  • Prepare feeder documentation and coordinate freight payments when required.
  • Monitor container stock levels and movements across contracted depots.
  • Arrange empty container repositioning based on operational requirements and stock availability.
  • Coordinate trucking activities for empty container movements, including bookings, work orders, dispatch documentation, service bills, and manifest closure.
  • Manage container on-hire and off-hire activities and coordinate related formalities.
  • Investigate and coordinate discrepancies involving container numbers, sizes, types, and other equipment details.
  • Ensure container movements are accurately updated in the relevant systems within the required timeframe.
  • Arrange container surveys for on-hire, off-hire, redelivery, damaged units, and other equipment-related requirements.
  • Coordinate matters involving container seals, reefer equipment, special equipment, trucking, and other logistics requirements.
  • Provide container movement and load information to relevant operations, finance, and logistics teams.
  • Coordinate third-party claims and follow up on maintenance and repair cost recoveries where applicable.
  • Work closely with booking teams on depot allocation and availability of empty and special equipment.
  • Monitor booking forecasts and ensure container requirements are properly planned.
  • Prepare regular container stock forecasts, operational reports, trucking reports, repositioning reports, and feeder cost-saving reports.
  • Review and verify logistics vendor invoices and costs and support purchase order processing.
  • Perform other operational and logistics duties assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Diploma or equivalent qualification; relevant higher education is an advantage.
  • Previous experience in shipping, freight forwarding, logistics, or a related industry is advantageous.
  • Basic understanding of container shipping, transshipment, feeder operations, and logistics processes.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate operational records.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Organized, systematic, and able to manage multiple operational tasks within deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Able to work effectively with internal teams, customers, agents, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Able to monitor and coordinate work performed by support teams to ensure timelines and operational objectives are met.
  • Willingness to learn and develop knowledge of the shipping and maritime industry.
