- Oversee the safe, efficient, and cost-effective technical management of assigned vessels.
- Ensure full implementation and compliance with the Company’s Safety Management System (SMS) and related procedures.
- Monitor vessel technical performance and recommend improvements to enhance reliability and operational efficiency.
- Coordinate planned maintenance, repairs, dry-docking, and major technical projects.
- Manage technical budgets and ensure cost-effective expenditure while maintaining operational standards.
- Ensure vessels comply with all applicable international regulations, class requirements, and statutory certifications.
- Support vessel manning by ensuring technical positions are adequately staffed and competent personnel are assigned.
- Prepare technical reports and provide regular updates to shipowners and management in accordance with contractual obligations.
- Provide technical guidance and operational support to Masters, Chief Engineers, and onboard teams.
- Promote a strong culture of safety, environmental protection, and energy efficiency across the fleet.
- Participate in the review, development, and continuous improvement of technical procedures and management systems.
- Work closely with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure smooth vessel operations.
Requirements
- Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency with previous sailing experience as Chief Engineer, or relevant shore-based Technical Superintendent experience.
- Strong knowledge of planned maintenance systems, dry-docking, repairs, and vessel maintenance.
- Good understanding of international maritime regulations, including SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM Code, and Class requirements.
- Experience managing vessel technical budgets and controlling maintenance costs.
- Ability to analyze technical issues and implement practical solutions.
- Strong communication and reporting skills with the ability to coordinate effectively with shipboard and shore-based personnel.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and computerized planned maintenance systems (e.g., AMOS, NS5, or equivalent).
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple vessels and priorities effectively.
