Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day technical operations of assigned LNG vessels.
- Monitor vessel performance, machinery reliability, and maintenance activities to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Plan and oversee dry dockings, repairs, retrofits, and major maintenance projects within approved budgets and timelines.
- Prepare and manage vessel operating budgets, repair costs, and capital expenditure.
- Conduct regular vessel inspections and ensure timely rectification of technical deficiencies.
- Provide technical support and guidance to Masters and Chief Engineers on operational and maintenance matters.
- Liaise with shipyards, classification societies, flag administrations, equipment manufacturers, and service providers.
- Ensure compliance with Class, Flag State, ISM Code, OCIMF, SIRE, and applicable statutory requirements.
- Monitor planned maintenance systems (PMS) and ensure maintenance is carried out effectively.
- Investigate machinery failures, technical incidents, and off-hire events, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
- Evaluate contractor performance and manage technical procurement for vessel equipment and spare parts.
- Support newbuilding projects, vessel deliveries, or fleet enhancement initiatives where required.
Requirements
- Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency (Class 1) or Degree in Marine Engineering.
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience as a Technical Superintendent managing LNG carriers, or significant seagoing experience as a Chief Engineer on LNG vessels with relevant shore-based exposure.
- Strong knowledge of LNG cargo containment systems, cargo handling equipment, dual-fuel propulsion systems, and LNG vessel operations.
- Experience managing dry dockings, technical budgets, planned maintenance, and vessel performance.
- Good understanding of Class, Flag State, ISM, SOLAS, MARPOL, SIRE, and OCIMF requirements.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficient in planned maintenance systems (AMOS, NS5, or similar) and Microsoft Office applications.
- Willingness to travel for vessel visits, inspections, and shipyard projects.
