Technical Fleet Manager (Tanker)
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Technical Fleet Manager to oversee the technical management and operational performance of an assigned tanker fleet. The successful candidate will ensure vessels are maintained to the highest standards of safety, regulatory compliance, reliability, and cost efficiency while providing leadership and guidance to the technical team.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the technical management of an assigned fleet of tanker vessels, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operations.
- Monitor vessel performance and ensure compliance with flag state, classification society, statutory, and company management system requirements.
- Manage maintenance planning, repair activities, dry-docking projects, and technical budgets to optimize vessel performance and operational costs.
- Provide technical guidance, coaching, and support to Technical Superintendents and other technical personnel.
- Ensure technical issues are resolved promptly while minimizing vessel downtime.
- Monitor planned maintenance systems and ensure all maintenance activities are completed in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Promote continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, environmental protection, energy efficiency, and operational excellence.
- Review technical reports, identify performance trends, and implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Collaborate with cross-functional departments to support vessel operations and project execution.
- Participate in the recruitment, onboarding, training, and professional development of technical staff.
- Prepare technical reports, budgets, and management updates for senior leadership.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a Technical Superintendent or technical management position within the ship management industry.
- Experience managing tanker vessels is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of ship maintenance, dry-docking, marine engineering, and technical operations.
- Sound understanding of international maritime regulations, classification society requirements, and statutory compliance.
- Proven leadership and people management skills with the ability to mentor and develop technical teams.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and vessel management software.
- Fluency in both English and Mandarin (spoken and written)
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related maritime discipline.
- Previous sailing experience as a senior marine engineer is advantageous.
- Experience managing technical budgets and multiple vessel projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, international ship management environment.
