Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the technical and operational performance of assigned vessels.
  • Lead and support Technical Superintendents in managing their vessels.
  • Monitor vessel condition, maintenance, machinery performance and operational reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with ISM, ISPS, MARPOL, SOLAS, class and flag-state requirements.
  • Plan and oversee dry dockings, repairs, surveys and technical projects.
  • Manage vessel budgets and control operating expenditure.
  • Monitor findings from audits, vetting inspections and port-state-control inspections.
  • Support incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Liaise with vessel teams, owners, charterers, class societies and service providers.
  • Conduct vessel visits and prepare fleet-performance reports for management.
  • Promote a strong culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency or a Degree in Marine Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong shore-based technical-management experience with tankers and bulk carriers.
  • Previous experience as a Fleet Manager, Senior Technical Superintendent or similar.
  • Sound knowledge of dry docking, planned maintenance, regulations and budget management.
  • Familiarity with tanker vetting requirements, including SIRE, is advantageous.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving and stakeholder-management skills.
