Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the technical and operational performance of assigned vessels.
- Lead and support Technical Superintendents in managing their vessels.
- Monitor vessel condition, maintenance, machinery performance and operational reliability.
- Ensure compliance with ISM, ISPS, MARPOL, SOLAS, class and flag-state requirements.
- Plan and oversee dry dockings, repairs, surveys and technical projects.
- Manage vessel budgets and control operating expenditure.
- Monitor findings from audits, vetting inspections and port-state-control inspections.
- Support incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Liaise with vessel teams, owners, charterers, class societies and service providers.
- Conduct vessel visits and prepare fleet-performance reports for management.
- Promote a strong culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency or a Degree in Marine Engineering or a related discipline.
- Strong shore-based technical-management experience with tankers and bulk carriers.
- Previous experience as a Fleet Manager, Senior Technical Superintendent or similar.
- Sound knowledge of dry docking, planned maintenance, regulations and budget management.
- Familiarity with tanker vetting requirements, including SIRE, is advantageous.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving and stakeholder-management skills.
