- Oversee and ensure vessels’ compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Ensure vessels remain fully prepared to execute voyages and operational requirements.
- Plan, coordinate, and manage audits and inspections by Recognised Organisations (RO), including ISM, ISPS, and MLC.
- Handle vetting inspections, including preparation and submission through the OCIMF SIRE platform.
- Monitor and manage navigational matters, including reviewing passage plans and conducting navigation audits.
- Ensure vessels meet all requirements set by terminals, operators, oil majors, and charterers.
- Act as the main point of contact for matters relating to Flag State and Port State authorities.
- Ensure Q88 and HVPQ documentation is consistently accurate and up to date.
- Keep abreast of regulatory changes and industry best practices, providing timely advice.
- Maintain, review, and enhance the company’s Safety Management System (SMS).
- Provide guidance and operational support to vessels on compliance and related matters.
- Support crew development through training, while upholding competency and discipline standards.
- Assist with enquiries related to vessel performance and operational capabilities.
- Participate actively as a member of the company’s emergency response team.
- Carry out any additional responsibilities or projects assigned.
Requirements:
- Previous seagoing experience as a Master (minimum CoC Class 1 or 2), or at least 2 years of relevant shore-based experience in HSE compliance for product or chemical tankers.
- Strong understanding of international and local maritime regulations and requirements.
- High level of integrity with a professional work ethic.
- Excellent leadership, communication, teamwork, and management skills.
- Ability to engage, motivate, and influence individuals effectively.
