Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the marine, navigational and operational performance of assigned vessels.
  • Provide guidance and shore-based support to Masters and vessel personnel.
  • Monitor cargo operations, including loading, discharging, tank cleaning, ballasting and bunkering.
  • Ensure compliance with flag-state, port-state, class and international regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain vessel readiness for SIRE 2.0, CDI, terminal, charterer and oil-major inspections.
  • Conduct vessel inspections, navigational audits and internal audits.
  • Review inspection findings and ensure corrective actions are completed promptly.
  • Monitor compliance with TMSA, ISGOTT, OCIMF guidelines and the company’s Safety Management System.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses and implement appropriate corrective measures.
  • Support emergency-response activities, vessel takeovers, deliveries and dry-docking projects.
  • Monitor crew performance and coordinate relevant training with the crewing department.
  • Liaise with charterers, terminals, agents, class and flag authorities.
  • Work closely with technical, commercial, crewing and HSQE teams to support fleet performance.

Requirements

  • Certificate of Competency as Master Mariner, preferably Class 1.
  • Relevant sailing experience as Master or senior deck officer aboard oil, chemical or product tankers.
  • Previous shore-based experience as a Marine Superintendent would be advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of tanker operations, SIRE 2.0, TMSA and oil-major vetting requirements.
  • Familiarity with ISGOTT, OCIMF guidelines, ISM, SOLAS and MARPOL.
  • Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Willing and able to travel and board vessels when required.
