Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the main liaison between the shore office and the Masters of assigned vessels.
  • Provide navigational and operational guidance and support to shipboard personnel.
  • Conduct scheduled navigation, mooring, cargo, bunker and internal audits to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Perform vessel inspections, including port and sailing visits, and prepare the relevant reports.
  • Monitor vessel operations to ensure safe, efficient and satisfactory performance in accordance with charterers’ requirements.
  • Support the selection of suitable Masters, deck officers and ratings for assigned vessels.
  • Assess the performance of Masters and deck officers while promoting a high-performance culture onboard.
  • Coordinate and manage Oil Major vetting requirements for vessels under supervision.
  • Plan, coordinate and participate in newbuilding projects, vessel deliveries and vessel sales when required.
  • Maintain a sound understanding of applicable maritime regulations, industry codes, guidelines and rank-specific responsibilities.
  • Develop, implement and monitor the Planned Maintenance System for the deck department.
  • Prepare and manage deck-related budgets, expenditure, purchasing and cost-control activities.
  • Promote the health, safety and welfare of shipboard personnel.
  • Perform other duties assigned by management.

Job Requirements

  • Hold a valid Certificate of Competency as Master Mariner (Unlimited), with dangerous cargo endorsements for oil and chemical tankers.
  • Preferably possess at least two years of sailing experience as Master onboard tanker vessels, together with relevant shore-based experience.
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Be willing and able to travel overseas, including visiting or sailing with company or other assigned vessels when required.
