Job Description

Responsibilities of the Designated Person Ashore (DPA):

  • Serve as the DPA, supervising the company’s safety management system (SMS) and guaranteeing it is correctlyexecuted,sustained, and efficient.
  • Supervise the effectiveness of the SMS, perform internal audits (AUD03), and implement corrective measures to rectifyshortcomings and non-compliances.
  • Responsibilities of the Company Security Officer (CSO):
  • Serve as the CSO and supervise the organization’s maritime security protocols and adherenceto the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code.
  • Formulate,execute, and sustain the Ship Security Plan (SSP) whilecarryingoutfrequent security evaluations and exercises.
  • Management of Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSSQE):
  • Create,execute, and uphold the organization’sunified HSSQE management framework, policies, procedures, and directives.
  • Track and evaluate HSSQE performance, incidents, and trends to pinpoint areas for enhancement and promoteongoing

 

Promotion of Safety Culture:

  • (G) Foster a robust safety culture within the organization, motivating reporting, learning from events, and enabling employees to participate actively in safety efforts.
  • (H) Implement safety training and awareness initiatives to inform employees about safety protocols and practices.
  • (I) Make certain there is a visit schedule for the vessel that addresses HSSQE issues. At least two visits by shore personnel are required each Make sure there is a protocol for office visits to vessels that encompasses HSSQE issues. Shore personnel touring the ships ought to set a standard and advocate for the principle of HSSQE excellence.
  • (J) Results and insights from vessel visits are shared with the entire fleet to guarantee that all vessels are aligned in attaining HSSQE Excellence.
  • (K) Results and input from vessel visits are assessed and communicated within the organization and with vessels.
  • Emergency Action and Crisis Handling:
  • (L) Create and uphold emergency response strategies and protocols for different situations, guaranteeing preparedness to manage crises efficiently.
  • (M) Hold frequent emergency drills and simulations to assess and enhance the organization’s readiness.
  • Environmental Adherence:
  • (N) Create and manage the organization’s environmental management initiative, guaranteeing adherence to environmental laws and regulations.
  • (O) Develop approaches to reduce the ecological footprint of business activities and encourage environmental sustainability.
