Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the overall performance of the tanker fleet, ensuring high standards of safety, reliability, and efficiency
- Oversee technical operations, including maintenance, dry-docking, and vessel inspections
- Ensure compliance with international maritime regulations (e.g., IMO, OCIMF, ISM, MARPOL) and vetting requirements
- Manage and guide Technical Superintendents and fleet teams to achieve operational excellence
- Monitor vessel performance, budgets, and cost control initiatives
- Drive continuous improvement in HSSEQ standards and best practices
- Support incident investigations and implement corrective/preventive actions
- Collaborate with commercial and operations teams to optimize fleet utilization
- Engage with external stakeholders including owners, class societies, and authorities
Requirements
- Chief Engineer (Class 1) or Marine Engineering degree or equivalent
- Minimum 10–15 years of relevant experience, including shore-based tanker fleet management
- Proven experience managing tanker vessels (oil/chemical/product tankers)
- Strong knowledge of OCIMF/SIRE, ISM, MARPOL, and classification requirements
- Leadership experience managing teams and multiple vessels
- Strong commercial awareness and cost management capabilities
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
