Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee full spectrum of finance and accounting functions for shipping and vessel operations
- Manage monthly financial reporting, management accounts, and variance analysis
- Prepare annual budgets, forecasts, and cash flow planning for vessel-related operations
- Monitor vessel operating expenses including bunker costs, port disbursements, repairs, maintenance, and other voyage-related costs
- Review and control AP, AR, treasury, and general ledger functions
- Ensure timely reconciliation of vessel accounts and accurate cost allocation
- Support commercial and operations teams with financial analysis and business decision-making
- Liaise with auditors, tax agents, banks, and regulatory authorities
- Ensure compliance with local statutory requirements, tax regulations, and internal financial controls
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost optimization across finance operations
- Supervise and mentor finance team members where applicable
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or related discipline
- Professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CA, or equivalent is preferred
- Minimum 5–8 years of relevant finance experience within shipping, maritime, or vessel management industry
- Strong knowledge of vessel accounting, shipping operations costs, and financial reporting
- Experience handling budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for vessel operations
- Good understanding of Malaysian tax, audit, and statutory compliance requirements
- Strong analytical, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
