Job Description
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of Voyage Operations Specialists / Coordinators while independently managing daily voyage operations activities.
- Oversee vessel operations and ensure smooth execution of voyages in accordance with operational requirements and business objectives.
- Provide guidance, training, cross-training, and development support to team members.
- Coordinate closely with internal stakeholders, vessel owners, terminals, agents, charterers, and other external parties to ensure efficient vessel operations.
- Act as the primary operational point of contact for assigned vessels and provide support during operational issues when required.
- Monitor voyage performance, operational efficiency, and ensure timely communication of updates and operational changes.
- Support optimization of vessel utilization and operational processes to improve overall performance and service delivery.
- Assist in identifying process improvements, operational metrics, and system enhancements.
- Maintain strong understanding of marine operational risks and support compliance with operational and safety requirements.
- Provide backup support across different voyage operations functions when necessary.
- Utilize marine operating systems and related platforms for voyage planning, execution, and reporting.
Requirements
- Prior experience in marine operations, preferably within tanker, barge, or vessel operations.
- Strong understanding of marine transportation, logistics, dispatching, and voyage operations processes.
- Proven leadership and team management capabilities.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and effectively manage stakeholders.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and comfortable learning new operational systems.
- High attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant industry experience is advantageous.
- Experience with marine operating systems such as IMOS or similar platforms will be an added advantage.
