Job Description
Responsibilities
- Manage complex physical oil trading operations independently, ensuring execution aligns with trader instructions and approved commercial strategies.
- Coordinate end-to-end cargo operations while meeting contractual obligations, operational timelines, cost targets, quality standards, and commercial objectives.
- Ensure timely exchange of operational updates with all stakeholders and verify that all documentation, testing, and operational procedures are completed accurately to safeguard the company’s commercial interests.
- Appoint and coordinate independent inspection companies for loading and discharge operations, providing clear operational instructions, contractual quality and quantity requirements, and inspection checklists.
- Monitor cargo movements throughout the entire operational cycle, with close oversight during loading and discharge activities to ensure smooth execution.
- Engage supervising companies when required to oversee operational activities, ensuring compliance with company standards, contractual obligations, and international industry practices.
- Ensure all operational activities comply with internal policies, procedures, and applicable industry regulations.
- Collaborate closely with the Shipping team to ensure vessel operations are executed in accordance with shipping policies and operational requirements.
- Liaise with Contracts, Trade Control, Finance Operations, and Credit teams to support efficient trade execution and maintain compliance with internal processes.
- Maintain accurate and timely updates of cargo, freight, and operational information within internal trading systems while ensuring records meet legal, financial, and audit requirements.
- Record cargo claims, voyage claims, and demurrage-related information accurately to facilitate efficient handling by the relevant departments.
- Participate in rotational operational support, including after-office hours, weekends, and public holidays, to ensure continuous business operations.
- Contribute to the enhancement of operational processes, systems, and best practices to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Continuously strengthen technical knowledge and analytical capabilities to support operational excellence.
- Provide technical guidance and operational expertise to junior team members while serving as a subject matter resource within the operations team.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in commodity trading operations, shipping operations, or a similar operational environment.
- Adaptable and willing to support operations across multiple oil products while continuously developing new technical skills.
- Strong ability to manage multiple cargo movements and operational tasks simultaneously with excellent attention to detail.
- Good analytical, coordination, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize work effectively in a fast-paced trading environment.
- Team-oriented with strong interpersonal and communication skills, while also capable of working independently and taking ownership of responsibilities.
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Maritime Studies, Shipping, Logistics, Supply Chain, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
- Exposure to fuel oil operations or blending activities is advantageous but not essential.
