Responsibility
- A line manager holdscomplete P&L accountability and is responsibleforimproving cost efficiency and maximizing
- Enhance the financial aspect of the business:
- Choosevesselsthathave the best intake inrelation to volume potential,considering the relationship between ship size and design, aswellas the related port fees and any physical limitationsatspecificports of call.
- Choose a vessel with thebest speed and fuelefficiency.
- Constantobservation of daily vessel speed leading to bunker usage with the system to verifythat the vessel\’s consumption matches the Time Charter Description (TCD) and to compare with other sister shipsthathavepreviously operated in the trade or area.
- Ensure each berth window for port calls is secured and negotiate terminal-related agreements, including discounts, rebates, and volume incentives.
- Handle and address claims (cargo claims, container damage, vessel damage) in collaboration with the legal team as needed.
- Devise trade pathways (current and potential) by analyzing the market\’s demand and supply conditions.
Demand:
- Work intimately with the marketing team to unify customer demand, including predicting future demand due to seasonal factors or potential alterations in MLO mother vessel connections.
- Collect, organize, and sustain trade data and reports through our business intelligence platform (BI) for evaluation and decision-making.
Supply:
- Analyze rivals and the current market tonnage utilized on the shipping route.
- Understanding of operating circumstances regarding tonnage surplus or deficit, as this affects utilization potential and pricing rationale.
- Develop a unique product or boost sailing frequency by broadening current service coverage, either through self-deployment or by swapping slots with other
- Ensure a strict level of vessel schedule reliability to satisfy customer feeder-to-mother linkages while delivering clear and prompt vessel updates regarding actual ETAs and ETDs.
Enhance the revenue component of the business:
- Optimize space and choose cargo that provides the highest yield (NTV – Net To Vessel returns).
- Develop a portfolio detailingtheutilizationof slots with organizedagreementscomparedtoopen slots (utilized basis).
- Collaboratecloselywiththemarketingteamforcustomeranddealselections. Engageactivelyin the customer\’stenderprocesses.
- SeekchancestoapplyGRI(generalrateincrease),RR(raterestoration),andCBR(criticalbunkerrecovery)acrossallmanagedtradesinaccordancewithrisingcosts.
- Overseeandorganize rate quotesandsubmissions with themarketingteam.
- Overseeallagenciesparticipatinginyourservicerotationrelatedtovesseloperations,cargoreservations, and customerrelationshipmanagementateachlocalsite.
- Engageproactively in marketingefforts,particularlywithimportantclientsacquiredbythemarketingteam. Duringoperationalcrises,engagingdirectlywithessential clients, particularlythosewhoholdstructuredspacecontractswithus.
- Remainaware of markettrendsbyengaging in businesstravelandeventstobuildandsustainrobustconnections with importantclients, both locally and globally.
- Assist your local agent abroad to guarantee smooth operations and client happiness.
- Work together and communicate efficiently within the department and with the associated departmentsto ensure they grasp the business strategy and how their roles aid in reaching our P&L objectives.
- Take on extra duties within the department from time to time as needed.
Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree in maritime commerce or business administration.
- Atleast 7 years of experience in the shipping industryrelatedto
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to worktogether with coworkersfromdifferent departments and numerous internal and external stakeholders.
- Capable of travelinginternationally to meet business needs.
- Self-sufficient and focusedonoutcomes.
- Tacticalplanner.
- Capacity to concentrate on assignments and evaluatecircumstances, systems, and issues.
- Capacity to make rapidchoicesbacked by information and data collected.
