Job Description

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Senior Technical Executive / Purchaser to support the procurement and supply of technical equipment, spare parts, and services for a fleet of vessels. The successful candidate will work closely with Technical Superintendents, suppliers, and logistics partners to ensure timely, cost-effective procurement while maintaining operational efficiency and budget compliance.

Responsibilities

Procurement & Supply Chain Management

  • Source, evaluate, and procure spare parts, technical stores, lubricants, consumables, and marine services for assigned vessels.
  • Obtain quotations, evaluate supplier proposals, and negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and commercial terms.
  • Prepare and process Purchase Orders (POs) in accordance with company procedures and procurement policies.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure quality, reliability, and cost-effective procurement.

Technical Coordination

  • Work closely with Technical Superintendents and vessel personnel to understand operational and maintenance requirements.
  • Support procurement planning for vessel repairs, dry-docking projects, routine maintenance, and emergency requirements.
  • Ensure purchased materials and services meet technical specifications and project requirements.

Logistics & Delivery

  • Coordinate with suppliers, freight forwarders, shipping agents, and logistics providers to ensure timely delivery of materials to vessels worldwide.
  • Monitor shipment progress, resolve delivery issues, and coordinate customs clearance and shipping documentation where required.

Inventory & Cost Control

  • Monitor vessel inventory levels and support effective stock management to minimise shortages and excess inventory.
  • Ensure procurement activities are carried out within approved budgets and recommend cost-saving opportunities where appropriate.
  • Track procurement expenditures and support budget monitoring activities.

Reporting & Administration

  • Maintain accurate procurement records and supplier documentation.
  • Prepare monthly procurement and purchasing reports for management.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives relating to procurement processes and supplier performance.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Marine Engineering, Maritime Studies, Business, or a related discipline.
  • At least 3–5 years of relevant experience in marine procurement, technical purchasing, ship management, or a similar maritime environment.
  • Good understanding of vessel spare parts, technical stores, marine procurement, and supply chain processes.
  • Experience coordinating with Technical Superintendents, suppliers, freight forwarders, and vessel personnel.
  • Strong negotiation, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Experience with ERP or procurement systems is an advantage.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
