Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Ship Broker with strong exposure to the chemical tanker market to support chartering and commercial activities within the marine industry. The ideal candidate will possess a solid network of owners, charterers, operators, and industry stakeholders, with proven experience handling chemical tanker operations and commercial negotiations.

This role requires deep understanding of tanker shipping markets, freight negotiations, vessel operations, and post-fixture management to support business growth and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with ship owners, charterers, traders, and operators within the tanker shipping market.
  • Identify and secure chartering opportunities for chemical tankers through spot and period business.
  • Negotiate freight rates, charter party terms, and commercial agreements with clients and counterparties.
  • Monitor global shipping markets, cargo movements, and freight trends to identify business opportunities.
  • Coordinate closely with operations teams to ensure smooth execution of fixtures and voyage performance.
  • Manage post-fixture activities including voyage follow-up, claims handling, demurrage matters, and operational coordination.
  • Provide market intelligence, competitor analysis, and commercial recommendations to management.
  • Support expansion of the company’s tanker business portfolio through strategic client engagement and market development.
  • Ensure compliance with international maritime regulations, vetting requirements, and industry best practices related to chemical tanker operations.
  • Maintain accurate commercial records, reports, and documentation related to fixtures and business development activities.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5–10 years of ship brokering, chartering, or commercial shipping experience within the marine industry.
  • Mandatory experience handling Chemical Tanker operations and/or Chemical Tanker chartering activities.
  • Strong knowledge of tanker markets, voyage economics, charter party agreements, and freight negotiations.
  • Existing network of ship owners, charterers, cargo traders, and marine industry stakeholders is highly preferred.
  • Good understanding of tanker operations, vessel scheduling, port operations, and post-fixture management.
  • Familiarity with IMO regulations, tanker vetting requirements, and maritime compliance standards.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
  • Commercially driven with strong business development capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced shipping environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and shipping/commercial reporting systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Degree in Maritime Studies, Shipping, Logistics, Business, or related field.
  • Previous experience in tanker shipping companies, shipbroking firms, or marine commercial management.
  • Exposure to international shipping markets within Asia and the Middle East is an advantage.
