Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Document Controller to support major Marine EPC and offshore projects for a highly established organisation within the maritime industry.

The successful candidate will oversee project document control activities across Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning, and Handover, ensuring documentation is accurately controlled, traceable, and delivered in accordance with project requirements and schedules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee document control activities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain the Master Document Register (MDR), document status trackers, transmittals, and revision records.
  • Manage engineering, procurement, vendor, construction, commissioning, quality, and project documentation.
  • Coordinate document submissions, reviews, approvals, and distribution between project teams, clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Monitor document review cycles and follow up on overdue submissions, approvals, and comments.
  • Ensure the latest approved revisions are properly distributed and superseded documents are controlled.
  • Monitor vendor and subcontractor documentation to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Prepare document status reports, dashboards, and progress reports for project management.
  • Support project close-out, as-built documentation, commissioning dossiers, and final handover packages.
  • Maintain and improve document control procedures, workflows, and filing systems.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior Document Controllers and project personnel.
  • Support document audits and ensure document traceability in accordance with project and quality requirements.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Maritime Studies, or a related discipline.
  • 5–8 years of relevant document control experience, preferably within Marine, Shipbuilding, Offshore, Oil & Gas, or EPC environments.
  • Strong experience handling engineering, vendor, procurement, construction, and project documentation.
  • Good knowledge of MDRs, transmittals, revision control, document workflows, and review cycles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple project deadlines.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring junior document control personnel is an advantage.
