Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate machinery and equipment specifications to ensure they meet technical requirements; interpret classification rules and respond to review comments.
- Familiar with equipment specifications and installation requirements for main engines, generators, propulsion systems, gearboxes, hydraulic equipment, HVAC, refrigeration, and related systems.
- Knowledgeable in marine piping systems including bilge, ballast, tank gauging, cooling, fuel oil, sanitary, fire protection, and others. Capable of selecting appropriate pump types, compressors, pipe materials, thicknesses, valves, and fittings that meet pressure ratings and functional needs.
- Coordinate with designers and vendors to develop pipe schematic diagrams, machinery space equipment layouts, and equipment installation plans.
- Review mechanical interfaces for major equipment such as main engines, gearboxes, and propeller shafting.
- Collaborate with a team of engineers to develop detailed 3D ship models for production, including interfacing and clash checks on pipe routing, HVAC, electrical installations, and other systems; generate material take-offs (MTO) for pipe routing, fittings, and pipe spools.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Marine Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a shipyard environment.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Good overall computer skills.
- Solid understanding of shipbuilding and project processes; ability to comprehend technical specifications and engage in project discussions with clients.
- Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Willing to travel to Batam or other countries for technical meetings as required.
