Job Description

Are you an experienced shipping and trade operations professional with a strong understanding of dry bulk logistics, vessel operations, and commercial trade execution?

Our client is seeking a Trade Operator to manage the end-to-end execution of commodity trades while ensuring the efficient operation of a fleet of time-chartered vessels. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of shipping, trading, logistics, and commercial operations within a dynamic international environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute and administer dry bulk trades, coordinating closely with customers, suppliers, shipowners, brokers, and logistics providers
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of time-chartered vessels, ensuring compliance with charter party terms and optimizing voyage performance
  • Prepare and issue voyage instructions to vessel masters and coordinate vessel nominations, cargo operations, and port activities
  • Monitor vessel performance, freight costs, and voyage profitability while identifying optimization opportunities
  • Coordinate with shipowners, brokers, port agents, surveyors, and freight forwarders to ensure smooth cargo execution
  • Manage shipping documentation, customs requirements, cargo surveys, and inspection activities
  • Maximize cargo utilization through vessel deadweight and cargo planning analysis
  • Prepare and monitor laytime calculations, freight invoices, charter hire statements, and claims management activities
  • Maintain accurate operational and financial records within IMOS and support month-end financial closing activities
  • Work closely with Trading, Chartering, Finance, Supply Chain, Legal, and Management teams to ensure operational excellence
  • Anticipate, mitigate, and resolve trade, voyage, and operational incidents while proactively managing associated risks
  • Support compliance, internal controls, and reporting requirements across shipping and trading activities

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 years of experience in shipping, trade operations, vessel operations, chartering, freight forwarding, supply chain, or commodity logistics
  • Strong understanding of dry bulk shipping, charter parties, voyage execution, and maritime operations
  • Experience working with shipowners, brokers, charterers, port agents, surveyors, and logistics providers
  • Familiarity with IMOS or similar shipping and trading systems will be advantageous
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple trades and vessel movements simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
