Job Description
Job Focus:
Oversee the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of assigned product tankers, ensuring adherence to international maritime regulations, industry standards, and company safety management systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) compliance across assigned vessels.
- Ensure vessels are operationally ready and capable of completing voyages safely.
- Coordinate ISM, ISPS, MLC audits and classification/RO inspections.
- Manage OCIMF SIRE vetting inspections and submissions.
- Review passage plans and conduct navigation audits.
- Ensure compliance with oil major, terminal, charterer, and Flag/Port State requirements.
- Maintain vessel documentation, including Q88 and HVPQ.
- Monitor regulatory changes and update the Safety Management System (SMS).
- Provide operational guidance, crew support, training, and discipline oversight.
- Participate in emergency response activities and special projects.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Master Mariner (CoC Class 1 or 2) with tanker sailing experience OR
- Minimum 2 years’ shore-based Marine Superintendent / Marine HSE / Marine Compliance experience.
- Experience with product or chemical tankers.
- Strong knowledge of ISM, ISPS, MLC, OCIMF SIRE, Flag State, Port State Control, Q88, HVPQ, and SMS.
- Familiar with international maritime regulations and vetting requirements.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
