Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Drive and ensure vessels’ adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards.
- Maintain vessels in a state of readiness to safely execute voyages and operations.
- Plan and coordinate audits and inspections by recognised organisations (RO), including ISM, ISPS, and MLC.
- Organise and manage vetting inspections, including submissions through the OCIMF SIRE system.
- Oversee navigational matters, including the review and approval of passage plans and conducting navigation audits.
- Ensure full compliance with the requirements of terminals, operators, oil majors, and charterers.
- Coordinate and handle all matters relating to Flag State and Port State authorities.
- Keep Q88 and HVPQ records accurate and up to date at all times.\
- Provide advice on regulatory updates, compliance requirements, and industry best practices.
- Continuously monitor and enhance the company’s Safety Management System (SMS).\
- Support vessels by providing guidance and necessary information on operational and compliance matters.
- Facilitate training, guidance, and enforcement related to crew competence and discipline.
- Assist with enquiries regarding vessel performance and operational capabilities.
- Participate as part of the company’s emergency response team.
- Undertake additional assignments and responsibilities as delegated.
Requirements:
- Previous sailing experience as a Master (minimum CoC Class 1 or 2), or at least 2 years of shore-based experience in HSE compliance for product or chemical tankers.
- Good understanding of both international and local maritime regulations and standards.
- Demonstrates strong integrity and professionalism in all aspects of work.
- Proven leadership, interpersonal, management, and communication skills.
- Ability to inspire, guide, and motivate team members effectively.
