Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including commodity sale and purchase contracts, service agreements, logistics contracts, and shipping documentation.
- Provide legal support to Trading and Commercial teams on day-to-day transactions, contract negotiations, and legal risk management.
- Advise on shipping, international trade, charter parties, cargo claims, Incoterms, and related legal matters.
- Manage disputes, arbitration, litigation, and coordinate with external legal counsel when required.
- Provide guidance on regulatory and compliance matters, including trade sanctions, anti-bribery and corruption (ABC), anti-money laundering (AML), and corporate governance.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting the commodities trading industry and recommend appropriate actions.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver practical, commercially focused legal solutions that support business objectives.
Requirements
- Qualified lawyer with at least 2 years of post-qualification experience (PQE).
- Experience in commodities trading, shipping, international trade, commercial law, or a related industry is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of commercial contracts, contract negotiation, and legal risk management.
- Excellent drafting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.
- Commercially minded, proactive, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, international business environment.
