Job Description

 

📌 Role Overview

  • Oversee the company’s Health, Safety, Security, Quality, and Environmental (HSSQE) functions across the fleet
  • Ensure vessels maintain high standards of operational readiness and marine compliance
  • Act as Designated Person Ashore (DPA) and Company Security Officer (CSO)
  • Drive compliance with international maritime regulations, industry standards, and company policies

 

⚙️ Regulatory Compliance & Operational Readiness

  • Ensure full compliance with applicable maritime laws, conventions, and industry standards
  • Stay updated on regulatory developments and implement necessary changes
  • Maintain vessel cargo readiness, ensuring cargo holds, gear, and critical spares are properly managed

 

🛡️ DPA Responsibilities

  • Oversee and ensure effective implementation of the Safety Management System (SMS)
  • Monitor SMS performance and conduct internal audits
  • Identify non-conformities and implement corrective and preventive actions

 

🔐 CSO Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the company’s maritime security framework
  • Ensure compliance with the ISPS Code
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Ship Security Plans (SSP)
  • Conduct regular security assessments, drills, and exercises

 

🌍 HSSQE Management

  • Develop and maintain an integrated HSSQE management system
  • Establish policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Track, analyze, and report HSSQE performance and incidents
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the organization

 

🚢 Safety Culture & Vessel Engagement

  • Promote a strong safety-first culture across shore and vessel teams
  • Conduct training and awareness programs on safety practices
  • Ensure regular vessel visits by shore staff (minimum twice yearly)
  • Standardize vessel visit guidelines with a focus on HSSQE
  • Share inspection findings and lessons learned across the fleet
  • Analyze feedback and ensure continuous improvement across vessels

 

🚨 Emergency Response & Crisis Management

  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures
  • Ensure readiness for various emergency scenarios
  • Conduct drills to test and improve response effectiveness

 

🌱 Environmental Management

  • Oversee compliance with environmental regulations and standards
  • Implement initiatives to reduce environmental impact
  • Promote sustainability across operations

 

 

📊 Quality Management

  • Manage and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards and certifications
  • Monitor performance and implement improvements based on feedback

 

⚠️ Risk Assessment & Mitigation

  • Conduct risk assessments across safety, security, environmental, and quality areas
  • Develop and implement mitigation strategies
  • Collaborate with departments to ensure proactive risk management

 

🎓 Qualifications & Requirements

  • Degree in a Maritime-related field
  • Master Mariner (CoC Class 1) certification
  • Prior shore-based experience in a similar role
  • Certified DPA and CSO
  • Experience in vessel inspections and audits
