Job Description

The following are just a few of your main responsibilities:

  • Strict adherence to all company policies, procedures, legal requirements, and special client requests.
  • To examine and verify rejected Exemption Request Forms, including locating the underlying issue and recommending solutions.
  • To oversee and manage each team member’s work performance, including any administrative approvals and updates to the necessary software.
  • To oversee a designated Recruitment and Placement Service Provider (RPSP) by serving as the primary point of contact for crucial issues pertaining to long-term planning and the management of the relevant pool.
  • To oversee the standard of the crew on the boats allotted to the designated team.
  • To continue to be aware of the current problems and circumstances on the team’s assigned vessels and to actively participate in the overall planning on board these ships.
  • To assist in handling urgent situations or offering emergency relief on the team’s designated vessels.
  • To review and manage the top five officers’ planning, as suggested by the RPSP of the assigned pool, in conjunction with the COO.
  • To perform crew changes in the most economical ports in accordance with the regulations and/or the specific needs of the Client; exemptions to use expensive ports will need approval from the COO or MD.
  • To verify a transfer exit plan for a vessel changing its nationality allocation or leaving the company with the prior approval of COO MD and presenting it to the client; this includes creating a relief plan for any specific projects the client requests.
  • To keep track of the performance of both good and bad crew members, as well as feedback and the status of debriefings, before their next vessel assignment.
  • Working with the COO, manage and provide pertinent input on the monthly KPIs.
  • Preparing weekly and monthly reports.
  • To add a signature on behalf of CSS’ MD to Seafarers’ Employment Agreements and POEA contracts.
  • To check and confirm the mustering costs and non-wage crew costs before COO gives final approval.
  • To review and approve crew shorthand manning payments when a vessel is not fully manned.

 

Minimum Requirement

  • At least five years of relevant crewing experience with a reputable ship owner manager, ideally with some experience as a supervisor
  • A bachelor’s degree, preferably in business or a maritime-related field
  • Excellent knowledge of mandatory STCW certifications, Seafarer’s Employment T&C, MLC 2006, CBA, and Flag States’ requirements.
  • Proficiency in MS Office programs.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Some prior seagoing experience would be advantageous, but it is not required.
