Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Maximize commercial performance of CPP tanker fleet
  • Manage commercial employment of vessels (MR, LR1, LR2) in spot and time charter markets
  • Negotiate and secure voyages, COAs, and period charters
  • Optimize vessel positioning, scheduling, and cargo laycan planning
  • Monitor freight market trends and adjust commercial strategies
  • Execute freight negotiations with brokers and counterparties
  • Review and negotiate charter party terms in coordination with legal
  • Handle off-hire claims and disputes
  • Track freight rates, refinery activity, product flows, and market demand
  • Prepare market reports and revenue forecasts
  • Identify new trade routes, cargo opportunities, and potential clients
  • Support fleet growth through commercial and market analysis
  • Build and maintain relationships with charterers, oil majors, traders, and cargo owners
  • Coordinate with internal teams (operations, finance, procurement, HR, safety)
  • Monitor and optimize vessel operating costs
  • Support budgeting and financial reporting
  • Lead and manage the shipping/commercial team
  • Oversee performance, workflow allocation, and compliance with safety and operational standards

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in CPP tanker chartering or commercial management
  • Proven track record fixing MR/LR tankers in spot markets
  • Experience with major CPP trading routes (ARA, AG, UKC, Caribbean, East of Suez)
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Shipping, Logistics, Supply Chain, or Business Administration
  • Relevant professional certifications are an advantage
