Job Description
Responsibilities
- Maximize commercial performance of CPP tanker fleet
- Manage commercial employment of vessels (MR, LR1, LR2) in spot and time charter markets
- Negotiate and secure voyages, COAs, and period charters
- Optimize vessel positioning, scheduling, and cargo laycan planning
- Monitor freight market trends and adjust commercial strategies
- Execute freight negotiations with brokers and counterparties
- Review and negotiate charter party terms in coordination with legal
- Handle off-hire claims and disputes
- Track freight rates, refinery activity, product flows, and market demand
- Prepare market reports and revenue forecasts
- Identify new trade routes, cargo opportunities, and potential clients
- Support fleet growth through commercial and market analysis
- Build and maintain relationships with charterers, oil majors, traders, and cargo owners
- Coordinate with internal teams (operations, finance, procurement, HR, safety)
- Monitor and optimize vessel operating costs
- Support budgeting and financial reporting
- Lead and manage the shipping/commercial team
- Oversee performance, workflow allocation, and compliance with safety and operational standards
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in CPP tanker chartering or commercial management
- Proven track record fixing MR/LR tankers in spot markets
- Experience with major CPP trading routes (ARA, AG, UKC, Caribbean, East of Suez)
- Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Shipping, Logistics, Supply Chain, or Business Administration
- Relevant professional certifications are an advantage
