Job Description

Role Overview

The Business Development Manager will be instrumental in expanding presence within the maritime sector in the Philippines and across the region. This role requires strong industry connections—especially among crewing companies, ship managers, and maritime service providers.

You will focus on identifying new opportunities, building relationships with key decision-makers, and converting these into sales for a digital platform. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will collaborate with a small, globally distributed team of Business Development Managers to drive shared pipeline and revenue goals.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Sales

  • Identify, pursue, and close new business opportunities within the maritime industry, particularly among crewing firms and ship managers.
  • Develop and sustain relationships with key stakeholders such as fleet operators, crewing managers, executives, and industry partners.
  • Manage the full sales cycle, from lead generation to deal closure.
  • Meet or exceed assigned sales and revenue targets.
  • Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and networking activities locally and regionally.

Market Development

  • Utilize industry knowledge and networks to strengthen presence in the Philippine maritime sector.
  • Explore partnerships and collaboration opportunities with service providers and technology partners.
  • Share insights on market trends, customer needs, and competitive dynamics with leadership.

Customer Engagement

  • Understand client challenges and position the platform as a solution to enhance operational efficiency and decision-making.
  • Collaborate with product and technical teams on demos, proposals, and tailored solutions.
  • Maintain client relationships to identify opportunities for upselling and business expansion.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with a global business development team, sharing insights and best practices.
  • Maintain accurate sales pipeline data and forecasts using CRM tools.
  • Provide regular updates to the CEO on performance and market opportunities.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Strong network within the Philippine maritime industry, particularly in crewing and ship management.
  • Proven experience in business development, sales, or commercial roles within the maritime sector.
  • Demonstrated ability to generate leads and close deals.
  • Skilled in engaging senior stakeholders and decision-makers.
  • Self-driven and able to work independently in a remote, distributed team.

Preferred

  • Experience selling software, SaaS, or digital solutions to maritime clients.
  • Understanding of maritime operations such as crewing, fleet, or voyage management.
  • Familiarity with digital transformation in the shipping industry.

Personal Attributes

  • Well-connected and respected in the maritime community
  • Entrepreneurial and commercially driven
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, technology-focused environment
  • Team-oriented, proactive, and results-focused
