Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day technical operations of assigned LNG vessels, ensuring safe and efficient performance.
  • Monitor vessel condition, maintenance planning, and repair activities to maximise reliability and minimise downtime.
  • Prepare and manage vessel operating budgets, including maintenance, repair, and dry docking costs.
  • Plan and oversee dry dockings, major repairs, retrofits, and technical projects.
  • Ensure compliance with Class, Flag State, IMO regulations, and company HSEQ policies.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to onboard management teams, including Masters and Chief Engineers.
  • Review technical reports, maintenance records, and vessel performance data to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Coordinate with Classification Societies, shipyards, equipment manufacturers, and service providers.
  • Monitor procurement activities to ensure timely availability of spare parts and technical services.
  • Support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Participate in vessel inspections, audits, and customer visits to maintain operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related discipline.
  • Chief Engineer (Motor) Certificate of Competency or sailing experience onboard LNG carriers is highly preferred.
  • Minimum 5–8 years of experience in technical ship management, including experience with LNG carriers.
  • Strong knowledge of LNG cargo systems, dual-fuel propulsion systems, planned maintenance systems, and dry docking management.
  • Good understanding of IMO regulations, Class requirements, ISM Code, SOLAS, MARPOL, and other applicable maritime regulations.
  • Strong budgeting, project management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple vessels simultaneously.
