Job Description

  • Supervise the setup, upkeep, and improvement of IT systems for office and vessel operations, ensuring alignment with operational requirements.
  • Oversee network infrastructure, including onboard communications, to ensure stability and optimal performance.
  • Establish and enforce data security measures to safeguard vessel operation information and company data.
  • Conduct routine security evaluations and audits to detect vulnerabilities and maintain regulatory compliance.
  • Provide timely technical support to office staff and vessel crews, swiftly addressing IT issues to prevent disruptions.
  • Implement remote support solutions for vessels to enable quick troubleshooting and resolution.
  • Lead IT projects focused on software deployment, system enhancements, and technology integration across the fleet.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure IT initiatives support business goals and operational needs.
  • Manage the IT team through hiring, training, and mentoring, fostering skill development and high performance.
  • Encourage a collaborative atmosphere that promotes innovation and continuous improvement in IT practices.
  • Plan and manage the IT budget, balancing cost-effective solutions with operational requirements.
  • Track IT-related expenses for projects and equipment to ensure adherence to budget limits.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience in IT management or a related role.
  • Strong knowledge in network administration, data security, and enterprise software systems relevant to shipping operations (e.g., ERP systems).
  • Proficient in troubleshooting hardware and software issues onshore and onboard vessels.
  • Proven leadership experience, with strong interpersonal skills to promote team collaboration.
  • Ability to manage projects from planning to completion, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a strategic approach to identifying IT needs and improvement areas.
  • Ability to conduct risk assessments focused on data security and operational efficiency.
  • Excellent communication skills for conveying technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in training staff on new technologies.
