Job Description
- Supervise the setup, upkeep, and improvement of IT systems for office and vessel operations, ensuring alignment with operational requirements.
- Oversee network infrastructure, including onboard communications, to ensure stability and optimal performance.
- Establish and enforce data security measures to safeguard vessel operation information and company data.
- Conduct routine security evaluations and audits to detect vulnerabilities and maintain regulatory compliance.
- Provide timely technical support to office staff and vessel crews, swiftly addressing IT issues to prevent disruptions.
- Implement remote support solutions for vessels to enable quick troubleshooting and resolution.
- Lead IT projects focused on software deployment, system enhancements, and technology integration across the fleet.
- Collaborate with various departments to ensure IT initiatives support business goals and operational needs.
- Manage the IT team through hiring, training, and mentoring, fostering skill development and high performance.
- Encourage a collaborative atmosphere that promotes innovation and continuous improvement in IT practices.
- Plan and manage the IT budget, balancing cost-effective solutions with operational requirements.
- Track IT-related expenses for projects and equipment to ensure adherence to budget limits.
- Design and deliver training programs on new technologies, software, and IT security best practices.
- Ensure employees have the necessary technology skills to perform their roles effectively.
- Maintain accurate documentation of IT systems, policies, procedures, and incident records.
- Provide senior management with regular reports on IT performance metrics, project progress, and security audit results.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
- At least 3 years of experience in IT management or a related role.
- Strong knowledge in network administration, data security, and enterprise software systems relevant to shipping operations (e.g., ERP systems).
- Proficient in troubleshooting hardware and software issues onshore and onboard vessels.
- Proven leadership experience, with strong interpersonal skills to promote team collaboration.
- Ability to manage projects from planning to completion, ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a strategic approach to identifying IT needs and improvement areas.
- Ability to conduct risk assessments focused on data security and operational efficiency.
- Excellent communication skills for conveying technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Proficiency in training staff on new technologies.
