Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Planning: Plan and coordinate the mobilization of all diving personnel, vessels, and equipment. Confer with internal teams, clients, vessel masters, and port authorities to ensure seamless operations.
- Safety & Compliance Oversight: Ensure all operations strictly adhere to governmental regulations, company policies, and industry standards such as IMCA and SS511 (or local equivalents).
- Risk Management: Perform Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) for all tasks, implement risk mitigation strategies, and develop robust emergency and contingency procedures.
- Team Leadership: Assign duties, direct the dive team during operations, and verify that all personnel are qualified, certified, and physically fit for their assigned tasks.
- Equipment Management: Oversee the inspection, maintenance, testing, and readiness of all diving equipment and life-support systems to ensure they are in good operating condition.
- Project Execution & Supervision: Personally direct diving operations, ensure clear communication between the diver and the dive station, and be prepared to stand in as a Dive Supervisor or Diver as needed.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate operational records, review and sign off on diver logbooks, and prepare/submit final reports to clients and management.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Act as the primary point of contact between the dive team, clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies, ensuring effective communication and alignment on project goals.
- Process Improvement: Monitor operational performance indicators, analyze data, and implement improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Experience:
- A minimum of 5 – 8 years of professional experience in underwater operations (e.g., inspection, construction, maintenance, or related work), with several years in a supervisory or management capacity
Skills:
- Strong leadership, team management, and organizational skills.
- Excellent problem-solving, crisis management, and analytical abilities.
- Proficiency in using specialized underwater equipment (ROVs, specific tools) and relevant software (e.g.,
- Underwater Inspection Software).
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills for diverse stakeholders.
- A deep knowledge of national and international marine and underwater safety laws and policies.
Education
- Diploma or Degree in Marine Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Maritime Studies, or a related field is often preferred, but extensive experience may substitute for formal education.
