Job Description

  • Manage the day-to-day technical operation of assigned tanker vessels.
  • Ensure vessels are maintained in compliance with company policies, Flag State, Class, ISM Code, and applicable international regulations.
  • Monitor and control vessel maintenance through the Planned Maintenance System (PMS).
  • Prepare, monitor, and manage vessel operating budgets and repair costs.
  • Plan and supervise dry dockings, major repairs, retrofits, and special projects.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to vessel crews on maintenance and machinery-related issues.
  • Conduct regular vessel inspections and audits to ensure technical integrity and operational readiness.
  • Investigate machinery failures and technical incidents, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Liaise with classification societies, shipyards, equipment manufacturers, and service providers.
  • Review spare parts inventory and procurement requirements to ensure vessel readiness.
  • Monitor vessel performance, fuel efficiency, and machinery reliability, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure timely completion of statutory surveys, certifications, and technical documentation.
  • Support emergency response and provide technical assistance during vessel incidents when required.

Requirements

Essential Qualifications

  • Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency (Unlimited).
  • Minimum of 2 years\’ sailing experience as Chief Engineer on tanker vessels (Oil Tankers, Chemical Tankers, Product Tankers, LPG, LNG, or Bunker Tankers).
  • Strong knowledge of tanker operations, marine engineering systems, and preventive maintenance.
  • Familiarity with international maritime regulations including SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM Code, and Classification Society requirements.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and technical problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and budget management skills.
  • Good written and spoken English communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and Planned Maintenance Systems (PMS).
  • Ability to travel for vessel visits, dry dockings, and emergency support when required.
