Job Description

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of assigned vessels, ensuring compliance with HSSEQ System.
  • Plan, manage, monitor, and execute vessel repairs, dry dockings, and conversions within approved budgets.
  • Track vessel performance trends and implement corrective measures to optimize operations.
  • Collect and evaluate emission control/compliance data (SEEMP/EEXI/CII) and obtain approvals from relevant authorities.
  • Monitor class and statutory certification status, manage conditions of class, and arrange necessary surveys (e.g., flag state, Panama Canal certifications).
  • Conduct regular vessel visits (minimum twice a year, including port and sailing), prepare visit reports, and address identified deficiencies.
  • Prepare management reports (biannual, triannual, or quarterly) for the General Manager’s approval, based on Principal requirements.
  • Enforce strict cost control over the annual operating budgets of assigned vessels.
  • Review monthly financial reports and approve cost controls before submitting them to the Technical Manager.
  • Contribute to the training and onboarding of new crew members and office staff.
  • Support SIRE inspections and TMSA audits.

Requirements:

  • Possess a Marine Engineer Class 1 (Chief Engineer Unlimited) Certificate.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in tanker operations is essential.
  • At least 2 years of sea-going experience as a Chief Engineer on LPG or Oil Tankers is required.
  • Experience as a Technical Superintendent, especially with tankers (LPG/Oil), is advantageous.
  • Demonstrates a strong work ethic and teamwork skills.
  • Excellent organizational and communication abilities.
  • Hands-on experience in technical management with practical skills.
  • Flexibility to travel on short notice based on operational needs.
  • Comprehensive understanding of maritime safety regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in risk assessment and accident investigation procedures.
  • Expertise in budget management and cost control for vessel operations.
  • Ability to effectively coordinate with ship staff, including Chief Engineers and Master Mariners, to ensure seamless operations.
