Ensure the safe, economical, and efficient operation and maintenance of marine equipment on ships in line with customer contracts/Charter Party agreements and within approved budgets, meeting the satisfaction of both owners and clients.
Serve as the primary onshore point of contact for vessels regarding technical management and mobilization activities.
Maintain regular communication with the owner regarding daily operations as defined and agreed with the Marine Manager.
Oversee Statutory and Classification surveys for all vessel equipment and systems.
Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance to avoid technical or operational non-conformities that could lead to downtime.
Provide proactive feedback to the Fleet Manager and Marine Manager to support continuous improvement of the PMS maintenance system.
Monitor and follow up on vessel technical performance and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Take prompt action to address and improve performance in cases of non-conformities or deviations.
Ensure corrective actions are implemented in response to technical incidents or non-conformities.
Analyze breakdowns and technical incidents and recommend learnings for the fleet.
Submit weekly technical status reports for the vessel to the Marine Manager.
Plan, coordinate, and supervise vessel repairs and dry-docking in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
Arrange repairs, provide spare parts and service engineers, and oversee repair work during major breakdowns to ensure safety, quality, and cost efficiency.
Handle insurance-related matters, including notifications, follow-ups, and settlements, in coordination with the Fleet Manager and Marine Manager.
Lead vessel condition assessments.
Participate in appraisals and selection of key vessel personnel.
Comply with requirements and report any non-conformities.
Collaborate with other fleet disciplines to optimize vessel and fleet performance.
Proactively seek and implement effective solutions for both the company and its clients.
Demonstrate flexibility in handling ad hoc situations.
Actively contribute to improving operational routines and solutions.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
Preferred sea time experience as Chief Engineer on offshore vessels.
Familiarity with operations and technical aspects of OSVs.
Proven skills in budgeting and cost control.
Strong knowledge in the following areas:
General vessel machinery, equipment, and systems.
Classification and statutory regulations.
Engine types, including Caterpillar, Cummins, Wartsila, and Niigata.
FPP, CPP, Z-Pellers, and Azimuth drives.
DP systems and maintenance.
Diesel-electric drives and hybrid engine configurations.
Computerized PMS and related software.
Preferably experienced in ship management.
Availability to travel on short notice.
Strong communication and information-sharing abilities.
