Job Description

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Act as the main point of contact for the Master and vessel personnel, ensuring safe and efficient operations of all assigned vessels in alignment with the Company’s Integrated Management System.
  • Ensure all trading and statutory certificates are valid, and vessels comply with all relevant regulations, codes, and practices.
  • Oversee the supply of stores, spares, and services to vessels in line with approved budgets.
  • Assist in any marine emergency involving vessels managed by the Company.
  • Monitor and manage vessel budgets, executing operating budgets under the direction of the Fleet Manager.
  • Investigate significant incidents, devise strategies to prevent recurrence, and monitor corrective actions in the Company’s reporting system.
  • Verify and ensure timely close-out of all recorded events, including outstanding Condition of Class, by the due date.
  • Provide necessary resources and support for effective and timely event resolution.
  • Conduct regular ship inspections for vessels under management to ensure readiness for third-party inspections.
  • Continuously review vessel maintenance and repair programs, including both preventative and unscheduled maintenance.
  • Prepare specifications for dry docking and running repairs, supervise operations, and verify accounts upon completion under Client and Fleet Manager direction.
  • Participate in the acquisition or decommissioning process of vessels in the fleet.
  • Collaborate with the Group Training Manager to assess and address current and future crew training requirements.
  • Approve or endorse work permits as required by managed vessels.
  • Provide technical input to the Management team on long-term solutions for ongoing and upcoming issues affecting vessel performance.

Requirements:

  • Class 1 Engine Certificate of Competency.
  • Sailing experience as a Chief Engineer on MR or larger tankers.
  • Minimum 5 years of sea-going experience in a senior role on tankers.
  • At least 2 years of shore-based experience performing similar tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in report writing with high computer literacy.
  • Familiar with vessel performance, fuel efficiency, and energy-saving device requirements.
