Job Description
The Technical Superintendent (Electrical) is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, performance, and repair of electrical and electronic systems on vessels. The role ensures that all shipboard electrical equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with maritime regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise maintenance and troubleshooting of ship electrical systems (power generation, distribution, automation, navigation, and communication systems).
- Plan and monitor electrical repairs, dry dock activities, and equipment upgrades.
- Provide technical support to vessel engineers and crew regarding electrical issues.
- Coordinate with shipyards, suppliers, and contractors for electrical works and spare parts.
- Ensure compliance with international maritime regulations and classification society standards.
- Monitor vessel performance and prepare technical reports.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or related field.
- Experience as Electrical Officer / Electro-Technical Officer (ETO) or Electrical Engineer on vessels.
- Strong knowledge of marine electrical systems, automation, and control systems.
- Experience with ship maintenance planning and dry docking.
- Good leadership, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
