Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day technical management of assigned Chemical Tankers.
  • Ensure vessels comply with international maritime regulations, Class requirements, Flag State regulations, and company safety standards.
  • Monitor vessel performance, maintenance schedules, repairs, and dry-docking activities.
  • Prepare and manage technical budgets, repair costs, and maintenance expenditures.
  • Plan and supervise dry dockings, major repairs, inspections, and retrofit projects.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to vessel Masters and Chief Engineers.
  • Monitor and evaluate PMS (Planned Maintenance System) implementation onboard vessels.
  • Liaise with shipyards, contractors, suppliers, and service providers for technical matters.
  • Attend vessels for inspections, audits, troubleshooting, and emergency situations when required.
  • Ensure timely reporting and close follow-up on technical defects, incidents, and corrective actions.
  • Support vetting inspections, SIRE inspections, and PSC inspections.
  • Review and maintain technical documentation, certificates, and records.
  • Participate in incident investigations and implement preventive measures.
  • Ensure compliance with company HSSEQ policies and industry best practices.

Requirements

  • Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency (Class 1) or Degree/Diploma in Marine Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience as Technical Superintendent managing Chemical Tankers.
  • Previous sailing experience as Chief Engineer on Chemical Tankers will be an added advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of tanker operations, marine engineering systems, and international maritime regulations.
  • Familiar with SIRE, CDI, PSC, ISM, ISPS, and MARPOL requirements.
  • Experience in dry docking, budgeting, and technical procurement.
  • Good problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and vessel management systems.
